Chattooga County missed the brunt of the winter weather that came to North Georgia on Friday, but just a few miles to the north things were different. Walker County saw up to 5" of ice and snow in some locations. Roper Corporation in LaFayette was forced to shut down operations early on Friday afternoon. According to information received, many parents were scrambling to pick up kids Friday afternoon leaving the work force short.
While temperatures warmed above freezing on both Saturday and Sunday, the large amount of slush on the roadways in Walker County have forced the closing of Walker County Schools for Monday.
