Law enforcement in Alabama say that a wanted man may have been in the Menlo area earlier this week. 

From WEIS Radio in Centre:

The individual being sought in connection with an incident in Cherokee County on July 5th – has now been identified as Stacey Mitchell Gardner a convicted felon with multiple charges and with convictions for weapons, thefts, assaults, escapes and drug related offenses.

Gardner has been entered on the ‘Cherokee County Most Wanted List’ on charges of Attempting to Commit a Controlled Substance Crime, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Resisting Arrest and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement Officers.

He is also wanted in Dekalb County, Alabama on several unrelated offenses.

Gardner is considered to be potentially armed and dangerous – and should not be approached or confronted in regards to this matter except by law enforcement.  Anyone who has contact with or who has information as to Gardner’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, at (256) 927-3365 – OR – contact E-9-1-1 as soon as possible, to report the information.

Gardner is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, with dark brown hair and is believed to have brown eyes. Since fleeing from law enforcement on July 5th, he has been reported as being seen in the areas of northern Cherokee County, Alabama; the Menlo, Georgia area of Chattooga County; and the Rome, Georgia area of Floyd County.
