According to Cherokee County Alabama Sheriff Jeff Shaver, officers with the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, took 41 year old Centre resident Harry Jefferson Silver, into custody on Friday night.
Silver was the focus of a two week manhunt by Deputies of the Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Task Force.
For the past two weeks Silver had been avoiding capture, and was eventually located at a residence on County Road 22 near the Georgia state line, at approximately 8:00 on Friday night.
He attempted to flee the residence through the back door, but was apprehended without further incident and then transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was transferred to the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
Silver was arrested on a parole violation warrant for the charge of Murder.
His murder conviction was returned in Cherokee County Circuit Court on May 5th, 1992.
