The Georgia State Patrol post in Rome has released their weekly accident report for crashes with injuries in Chattooga County.
On Wednesday of last week a two car accident on Highway 48 at Mahan Road involved two vehicles. According to the report, one car was driven by Courtney Stowe of Summerville who was traveling east on Highway 48 when she turned in front of a vehicle driven by Tina Cordle of Menlo causing the accident. Stowe told troopers she did not see Cordle’s vehicle as she turned left onto Mahan Road. There were no citations issued in the accident.
Another accident on Wednesday involved two vehicles and occured on Hill Street near Mtn. View in Trion. According to the report Robert Eaton of Trion was travelling west on Hill Street when he entered a curve and went into a skid. According to the report, Eaton attempted to counter steer causing his 2001 Dodge Caravan to rotate in the road and struck a 1999 Dodge Durengo driven by Gladys Sills of Summerville. Eaton was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
On Thursday of last week a single vehicle accident on Highway 27 involved a 1998 Chevy Tahoe driven by Cody Saylors of Summerville. According to the report, Saylors told troopers he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway causing him to loose control of the vehicle and strike the ditch – rolling the Tahoe 3 times. Saylors was transported to Floyd Medical Center by Chattooga County EMS and was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
