The storm system moving through the area during the past couple of days brought more than five inches of rain to the Weiss Lake watershed causing sudden rising of the lake level which many residents enjoy this time of year but now the question is when will the lake stop rising and at what level will it reach.
Alabama Power spokesperson Gina Warren stated the cresting of the lake should be late Thursday, January 8th at some 566 feet above sea level. The normal summer full pool elevation is 564 feet which means the lake could get two feet above the full mark.
Property owners around the lake should take the precautions necessary to protect their boats and other property in the lake easement.
