Weather forecasters are watching a weather system that is moving towards Northwest Georgia over the next 48 hours.

A low pressure system will track east across the Gulf of Mexico late Friday and into Saturday which may push some moisture towards Chattooga County.  According to the National Weather Service, the forecast is for a 50% chance of a snow/rain mix on Friday night and a 70% chance for snow changing to rain on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement that says the best possibility for snow would be on Lookout and Sand Mountains on Friday night, where the higher elevations could see around 1" of snow.

Weather forecasters are watching the low pressure system to determine just when the moisture will move into the area which would determine when and if we see any winter weather.
