Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 on Friday that the move to widen Georgia State Route 140 from Floyd to Bartow counties would improve access to Chattooga County from I-75 and be good for the economic future of the county.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has plans in the works to widen the roughly 7 mile stretch on a road that was designated as a truck route by the Surface Transportation Assistance Act.

Commissioner Winters will be a guest on AM 1180’s NEWSMAKERS interview program next week, explaining the benefits of the project and how it relates to Chattooga County’s economic future.
