Cherokee County authorities have arrested an individual living in Cedar Bluff, for failure to comply with the Community Notification Act.

51 year old Laura Lee Thurman moved from a residence in the Gaylesville area, and she failed to notify the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

She had moved to a location on County Road 92 and soon thereafter concerned neighbors found Thurman’s picture on the Sex Offender website and notified the Sheriff’s Office.

Thurman told Investigator Bo Jolly that she had been living on County Road 92 for three weeks – a warrant was obtained and she was placed in the Cherokee County Jail.

By law, all sex offenders are required to give thirty-day notice of intent to move, from an existing residence to a new residence.
