A 54 year old woman was injured when she fell while walking on the Simms Mountain Trail in the Big Texas Valley area of Floyd County. According to reports the victim fell late yesterday (Tuesday) evening and suffered injuries to her leg and knee. She was able to call 911 and Floyd County emergency personell carried her from the wooded area off Big Texas Valley Road around 9:45 last night.
Simms Mountain Trail follows an old railroad bed for 12 miles through Northwestern Floyd County and is maintained by the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority. The trail is also part of the larger Pinhoti Trail system that extends from the southern end of the Appalacian Trail into Central Alabama.
