The Chattooga County Public Works Department began work yesterday on Smallen Road near the Oak Hill Community in southern Chattooga County. Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 that with the cooperation of the weather, the work should be completed by Friday.
Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 on Tuesday evening that the first day of work on the project went well. Winters said that both county trackhoes were being used on the project and that the digging went better than expected.
The project came about because of a tile that had rusted away on Smallen Road. The road remains closed for through traffic until the work is completed.
