Chattooga County Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 that work on The Narrows road project is making progress. Canada said that the county is making good headway on the road preparing it to be paved. The U.S. Forestry Service is assisting in the project by providing money for tile and for rock that is needed for the project.
Future plans call for the road to be paved all the way across the mountain, providing better access and connection between the Trion and Mountain View Area to the Subligna – Gore area. Emergency personel say that the road will provide better response time for some area residents in Chattooga County. Also commuters from the Gore-Subligna area who work in LaFayette will have a shorter access route once the project is completed sometime next year.
