Floyd County emergency services were called to the scene of a drowning on Sunday evening.  According to reports a four year old child drowned while swimming with his family in Silver Creek off of Darlington Drive and U.S. Highway 27 near the sight of an old furnace.

According to reports a family with small children were swimming in the area which is around 3-5 foot deep and the father noticed that the young toddler did not come up after going under the water.  The area is accessible only by a foot path.  A wittness flagged down traffic on Darlington Drive but by the time paramedics and law enforcement officials arrived it was too late to revive the child.
