A delegation from the Chattooga Young Farmers met with U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson on Thursday to discuss the proposed Ag Center for Chattooga County. AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio spoke with County Commissioner Mike Dawson and with Ag Instructor at Chattooga High School Lynn Hall today about the meeting with the senator.
Hall said that he was very encouraged after meeting with Senator Isakson. Isakson told the delegation that he would help in every way possible to secure funding for the proposed facility for Chattooga County. Hall said that Isakson cautioned them to be patient because it could take some time to secure the necessary funds from the federal government.
Commissioner Dawson told Chattooga County Radio that the Senator said much of the federal aid that is expected to be passed by Congress in the first part of 2009 is already in President Elect Obama’s agenda, but that he would make it a point to work for additional funding for the Ag Center project in Chattooga County.
Commissioner Dawson also commented that the added jobs that the Ag Center would bring should make the project attractive to the Obama Administration. Chattooga County has already committed $50,000 towards the Ag Center project.
