A Chattooga County deputy was called to a Penn Street address in Trion on Monday of this week in reference to a cat being shot.

When the deputy arrived he spoke with the complainant, Kay Bryant who told the deputy that she heard two gun shots and looked out the window to see her neighbor put his gun up in his pickup.  Ms. Bryant said that her neighbor had shot her cat.

When the responding deputy talked with the neighbor, identified as Harold Slayton, about the incident, he said that Ms. Bryant’s cat had been attacking his cat.  Mr. Slayton denied shooting Ms. Bryant’s cat, but admitted to shooting a round in the air and one in the ground.  Slayton said that his neighbor’s cat could have been hit by a fragment from the shot.   Slayton also told the deputy that he had called animal control several times about the neighbor’s cat.
