Burn Ban Starts This Sunday

Beginning May 1, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) open burning ban will be in effect for 54 Georgia counties.  The open burning ban has been in place during the summer ozone season since 2005.

Burglary Reported On West Oak Street In Trion

A Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a burglary call on Sunday at 70 West Oak Street in Trion.

Fire At Abandoned Mobile Home

Emergency officials responded to a fire last week on Midway Drive in Summerville.  According to a report from the sheriff’s office, the fire was at a mobile home.  No one was living at the mobile home at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is not known. The fire was reported between 7 and 8 PM last Wednesday.  The Summerville Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire, according to the report.

Georgia Gas Prices See Slight Increase

Georgia gas prices experienced a slight increase compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $3.71 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average was 1 cent more than a week ago, 28 cents less than last month and $1.01 more than this time last year.
