Flooding in downtown Summerville is an issue that Summerville City Councilman Joe Money wants to see addressed.  Recently, the councilman and Mayor Harry Harvey met with other elected officials to begin to formulate a plan for the problem that has plagued the area for decades.

Councilman Money told WZQZ News that meeting yielded a promise that the Georgia Department of Transportation would study the issue to determine problems and find possible solutions to correct the issue.

Yesterday, Councilman Money said that one issue that can be addressed locally might begin to relieve part of the problem.  Mr. Money said, “Town Creek has several trees down across the creek and beaver dams built downstream the width of the creek. Removing these may not solve the flooding problem but will be a great start to get the water flowing toward the Chattooga River.”
