Last week there was a lot of news about the Georgia Department of Labor reinstating the job search requirements for people claiming unemployment in Georgia, but there was another change in the rules you might have missed.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the GDOL had suspended the job search requirements, but those were put back in place as of July 1, 2021.  Also, the amount you can earn from a “side job” and still draw unemployment reverted back to $150 per week.

During the pandemic, those drawing unemployment could still make up to $300 per week at a part-time job and draw unemployment.

But $150 per week is still better than it was before the pandemic, when those drawing unemployment could only make $50 per week from a side job and still receive benefits.

Of course the catch to all this is if you make $150 per week at a side job and report it as you should, that amount will be deducted from your next unemployment check.
