A Northwest Georgia man says that he recorded an employee at a motel in Centre, Alabama telling him that the motel doesn’t “like wheelchairs.”

Scott East says that he and his family had planned a getaway at Pirates Bay, a popular water park in Cherokee County, and had booked a motel room at Weiss Lake Lodge.   When he arrived with his family to check in his room that he had previously reserved, he was met by an employee telling him the room was not available.

Reports indicate that the employee at Weiss Lake Lodge has been fired.

East has been in contact with a disability rights attorney about the incident.
