The Walker County Development Authority has approved a $100-million bond issue for a hotel at the McLemore golf resort on Lookout Mountain.

Work is expected to start on the hotel this Summer… and it should open in December of 2023.  It will wear the Hilton Curio Collection brand… and provide over 290 jobs.

Walker County officials say there is no liability to the county or taxpayers by issuing the bonds.  The county’s involvement means tax incentives will be available on the project over the next 30 years – along with a lower interest rate for the developers.

In a tax abatement agreement with Walker County, McLemore is paying no property taxes for the first five years and will pay 10 percent of the tax for the next 25.

The golf resort is located on Lookout Mountain overlooking McLemore Cove.
