The Summerville City Council will hold a called meeting this evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall.  The meeting will take place in the council room, but it can also be accessed remotely for anyone that cannot attend in person.

The council is expected to take up several issues, but the one that will likely draw the most attention is the proposal to allow a referendum on the sale of packaged liquor inside the city limits. Currently, the only place packaged liquor is available in Chattooga County is in the Town of Lyerly.

That’s not the only alcohol-related item on the agenda for tonight’s meeting.  The council will also consider an alcohol permit for a jazz festival that is coming up later this year that will be held in downtown Summerville.

Regular Council Meeting

Regular Council meetings, are scheduled for the 2nd Monday of the month. The July Regular Council Meeting will be on July 12th, at 5PM, at City Hall. The meeting will also be available to attend as a virtual meeting that can be joined by telephone or by computer/smart phone.
