At last night’s Chattooga County BOE meeting Supt. Jared Hosmer presented six names of people who have submitted applications to be the next member of the Chattooga Board of Education.

The board of education will be selecting someone to fill the unexpired term of Dr. Julia Houston who resigned from her position in May.  Houston was elected to represent the Lyerly District on the board of education.

Hosmer told the board that he has verified that all six of the potential candidates live within the Lyerly District and would be eligible to serve on the board.

The six candidates are:

Charles Cooper – former principal of Lyerly Elementary School

Wendy Cordle – former employee of Chattooga High School

Bonnie Fletcher – local florist owner and radio station announcer

Spencer Hogg – former chairman of the Chattooga Republican Party and employee of the Regional Commission

Morgan Reynolds – employee at Shorter University

Ron Williams – former BOE member, former educator and coach

The council is expected to make a decision on who will replace Dr. Houston on the council at their August meeting.
