Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry says that the site attendants at Chattooga County’s convenience centers are doing a good job of keeping people from outside Chattooga County from dumping trash and bringing brush, but he wanted a new sign erected to clarify the county policy.

The new sign that reads “No Stumps or Out of Town Brush” is located at the Highway 27 dump site just south of Summerville.

Commissioner Elsberry told WZQZ News, “Our site attendants do a great job monitoring the traffic in and out of the sites and making sure out of county dumping is kept to a minimum. Also we have cameras set up at the main dumpsite in Summerville that helps monitor after hours traffic.”

Elsberry said that the cost to grind stumps and brush is $680 an hour, not including fuel, and currently it is cheaper for the county to take it to a landfill to dump.
