A pair of thieves made off with several items, including a pressure washer hose, and extension cords, from Tractor Supply in Summerville last week.

According to reports from the Chattooga County Sheriffs Office, the two thieves managed to make off with multiple items from the local store,  after their attempted scam didn’t work.

Per employees at Tractor Supply, on July 14th, a male and female entered the store with an empty buggy. After filling the buggy with various items, the pair then attempted to return the items to the cashier at the front of the store. Employees recognized the couple, as this was around the third time they had attempted the same scam at the store. When the robbers realized the scam wasn’t going to work, they left the store with the items still in their cart, got in their vehicle and headed North on Highway 27.

Deputies searched but were unable to locate the car.

When Deputies returned to Tractor Supply the following day they were informed that the couple had returned the stolen items for a refund to the Calhoun Tractor Supply approximately one hour after the theft at the Summerville location. The manager was able to give Deputies a list of the returned items and the employees were able to positively identify several of the items. This case is still active.
