Earlier this week, WZQZ News reported that Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry had erected a sign at the county brush dump site on Highway 27 south of Summerville that is meant to discourage out of town dumping of stumps and brush.

Commissioner Elsberry has now announced that he is raising the rates on brush dumping for county residents.  A pickup truck load of brush will still be free to dump, but anything more will cost more with the new fees.

A non-dump trailer load will cost $20 but it will cost $50 for a dump trailer, dump truck or single axle truck.  Double axle trucks will be $100.

The commissioner says that right now the county is trying to transport as much brush as possible to a landfill in Alabama, but Elsberry says he is exploring other possible solutions for the larger items at the dump site such as large stumps.
