Two high-profile Georgians have recently been diagnosed with COVID-19, both after having been fully vaccinated.
Last week, WSB TV News anchor Fred Blankenship announced that he had contracted the coronavirus while on vacation in California. Blankenship made the announcement on Wednesday.
Then, on Friday of last week, Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods tested positive. Woods had been in several meetings on Thursday of last week. All of the people the state school superintendent came in contact with have been notified of Wood’s diagnoses.
Reports indicate that Woods is currently experiencing “cold-like symptoms” and is quarantined at home.
The CDC in Atlanta says they are tracking and monitoring infections among persons who are fully vaccinated and monitoring trends in case characteristics and variants identified from persons with these infections.
