It wasn’t the ending that they had hoped for, but the U.S. Men’s Gymnastic Team did end up in the top five at the Olympic Games in Tokyo on Monday.

The top slots went to Russia, China, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.  The victory marked the first Olympic title for the Russians since the 1996 Atlanta Games.

But Monday’s competition isn’t the end of this year’s Olympics for Trion High School graduate Brody Malone.  Malone will be competing Wednesday in the Men’s Artistic Individual All-Round Finals.

Fellow U.S. Olympian Sam Mikulak had nothing but praise for his Georgia teammate.  Speaking of Malone he said, “This man is coming out hot, he’s just hitting sets, he’s rocking it. We needed someone to really rise to the occasion, and he came out of quarantine better than ever, and that’s a hard thing to do.”
