The Region One Project Manager for Existing Industry & Regional Recruitment with the Global Commerce Division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development visited industry in Chattooga County yesterday.

Tamara Brock works closely with local community leaders and provides a central point of contact to connect with state economic development resources and partners.

Georgia is home to approximately 70 consulates, trade commissions and bi-national chambers of commerce, many of which have been in our state for decades. In her role with the Global Commerce Division, Brock helps promote industry in Northwest Georgia to potential customers around the world.

On Wednesday, Brock toured Mount Vernon Mills and Dixie Specialty Fibers in Trion and Smith Iron Works in Lyerly.

Spencer Hogg with the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority told WZQZ News that industry visits are a key aspect of what the Northwest Georgia JDA and Georgia Department of Economic Development do.  Hogg said, “These visits allow us to learn how we can better meet the needs of our local employers and citizens.”

Hogg added, that they will be visiting more industries in Catoosa, Dade, Walker and Chattooga Counties in the upcoming months as we move past the COVID pandemic.
