Former Chattooga High School Head Football Coach Charles Hammon has accepted a position at Valley Head High School.

WZQZ News spoke with Coach Hammon on Tuesday.  He confirmed that he has accepted the position and said that he is “very excited” to be back coaching the Valley Head Tigers.  Hammon last coached in Valley Head sixteen years ago.

The DeKalb County (Alabama) Board of Education held a special called meeting on Tuesday to offer Coach Hammon a position as a physical education instructor at Valley Head High School and the top coaching position for the Valley Head Tigers.

Valley Head had an impressive season last fall with 8 wins and 3 losses and came in first in 1A Region 7 play in Alabama.

On December 6, 2019, Coach Hammon resigned his position as Chattooga head football coach and spent a short stent teaching P.E. at Menlo Elementary School before taking a job with the Dade County School system.  It was Hammon’s third stent with the Dade County Wolverines.
