Chattooga County School Supt. Jared Hosmer sent word on Thursday that this year the school system will be tracking positive COVID-19 cases and will post the data each Friday afternoon on the school system website.

During the first full week of school, there were a total of 15 positive cases of coronavirus reported throughout the school district.  Leroy Massey Elementary School topped the list with eight cases; followed by Summerville Middle School with four cases and three cases were reported at Chattooga High School.

Lyerly and Menlo Elementary Schools had no positive cases.

Masks and vaccinations are optional for both staff and students in the Chattooga County School System.
