Late Friday night, the Trion Fire Department was called to a residence on Eleventh Street due to smoke alarms going off.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found that the fire alarms were malfunctioning and discovered they only needed the batteries replaced. Firefighters assisted the residents by replacing the batteries for the homeowners.

The Trion Fire Department reminds residents not to hesitate to call if you are in need of free smoke alarms or batteries.

Properly working smoke alarms are the first line of defense in the event of an emergency due to fire.
