A local farmer and well-known Summerville businessman passed away on Friday.  Mr. Charles Black was a co-owner of local feed and farm supply store Black & Meek Milling Company in Summerville.

Mr. Black was a member of Pennville Community Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Elder, Governing Board Member, and Treasurer.  He was a 1969 graduate of Chattooga High School and a 1973 graduate of North Georgia College.

Mr. Black ran as the Republican candidate for Chattooga County Commissioner in 2008.
