The latest round of numbers from the Georgia Department of Labor show a continued steady improvement in the number of unemployed people in Northwest Georgia compared to this time last year.
The unemployment rate, region-wide, at this time in 2020 stood at 7.2% amidst shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest numbers show that the region-wide unemployment rate is now at 3.7%. That’s up slightly from the previous reporting month, but still well under the national average of 5.4%.
The unemployment rate in Northwest Georgia has only been above 4% one month during 2021 and that was in January.
