The Town of Trion will hold qualifying for a special election coming up next month.  The “special election” will be held at the same time as the regular municipal election.  It is to fill the seat of Councilman Lanny Thomas, who has qualified to run for mayor.   You can read the information on the special election from the Town of Trion below:

Please be advised that a Special Election to fill the vacancy of Trion Council Seat No. 4 caused by the resignation of the prior holder of the seat shall be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The term of the office shall be for the unexpired term of the prior holder of the seat.

The qualifying dates for said office will be September 08, 2021 through September 10, 2021 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The office will be closed for qualifying between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for lunch.

The qualifying fee for Trion Council Seat No. 4 shall be $36.00. Fees shall be paid to the Municipal Election Superintendent or appointed parties thereof at the time of qualifying. Each person wishing to qualify shall file a Notice of Candidacy and the appropriate affidavits as set forth by the Municipal Ordinance and as provided by O.C.G.A. 21-2-132.
