A local womans’ identity has been stolen and is being used to obtain money over a mobile payment service.

Over the weekend, Summerville Police Officers spoke with Jennifer Hines who stated that her mother, Sonya White identity had stolen. According to Hines, her mothers phone had been hacked and someone was messaging people pictures of her ID Card. Ms. White had stored her ID card in her Google Photos account and Hines believed that is how they hackers obtained the photo. Neither Hines nor White knew who the hackers were, however the thieves had been messaging people on Facebook and asking for money via a mobile payment service called CashApp. Officers advised Hines to contact Ms. Whites financial institutions to so that they can hopefully solve any issues they may find.
