An argument over money lead to one victim being hit repeatedly with a metal broom handle, and a 17 year old behind bars.

A dispute over money on Sunday turned violent, which lead to the arrest of a 17 year old boy. Officers responded to a McGinnis Circle address where they met with the victim.

The victim and the boy, Jayden Matthew Barnett had been arguing at which point, Barnett picked up a metal broom and began to hit the victim with it. Officers were able to observe bruising, swelling, and red marks on the victim from the broom. The victim said that Barnett was on the Autism Spectrum, but that he did know right from wrong and that she wanted him arrested and taken to jail.

Barnett was placed under arrest and transported to the Chattooga County Jail. DFACS was notified and adult protective services will also be contacted.
