The Chattooga County Health Department continues to encourage local residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine. 

According to the health department, some people have questioned the side-effects of the vaccine.  The health department states, “Mild side effects from COVID-19 vaccines are signs the vaccine is working. They may include some mild, short-term injection site pain, fever, chills, headaches, muscle aches, and joint pain.”

Vaccines work to fight disease by producing an immune response within the body, and sometimes that means flu-like symptoms occur as your body responds to the vaccine. It is normal and expected, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
