The United States Department of Defense announced on Thursday that Showa Best Glove, headquartered in Menlo, has been awarded a $43,701,247 modification to a previous let contract.

The contract is for glove production for the Department of Defense’s Defense Assisted Acquisition Cell, at Robins Air Force Base, in Georgia, on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services.

This modification provides for the exercise of an option for additional production capacity of  almost 67 million gloves per month.

Work will be performed in Fayette, Alabama, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 21, 2024.

The modification of the contract will make the cumulative face value at $81.2 million.
