Sitting in the middle of the road, in the pouring rain, ends in an arrest for drugs for one woman, according to reports from the Chattooga County Sheriffs Office.
During patrol on a rainy Monday, a Chattooga County Sheriffs Deputy came upon a woman sitting in the middle of the roadway. The woman was sitting between two rather dangerous curves on Butler Dairy Road, outside of her vehicle. The Deputy pulled over and approached the woman who was identified as Melissa Susan Milam. Milam was acting very strange with very fast movements that were not making any sense. Milam asked the Deputy if she could smoke however while attempting to locate a lighter she kept acting like she was hiding something and her movements were all over the place.
After a second Deputy arrived to assist, the Officers asked Milam to obtain her license from her car. While attempting to locate the license, Milam got sidetracked and had to be asked to now step out of the car. After stepping out of the car, consent was given to the Deputies to search the car and her person. When Deputies asked Milam to lift her bra outward from her chest, while not showing her chest, a blue wrapper fell from the bra area and landed on her stomach. A quick search of the blue wrapper revealed what appeared to be methamphetamine. At this point Milam was placed under arrest and the substance was field tested, which did come back as positive for methamphetamine. Milam was read her rights and transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
