Each week WZQZ News updates you on the price of gas in Chattooga and surrounding counties.  Gas prices in neighboring Alabama counties is always cheaper than it is in Georgia, but the price will be going up slightly starting this weekend.

Drivers looking to fill up their tanks in Alabama this weekend should expect to pay two more cents per gallon more at the pump. It’s the final phase of Alabama’s gas tax that went into effect as a part of the rebuild Alabama Act in 2019. The tax went up six cents in 2019 and two cents last year.

The average price for a gallon of gas in DeKalb County, Alabama was $2.92 as of yesterday and the average price in Cherokee County, Alabama was $2.84 as of yesterday.
