The Summerville City Council will hold their regular monthly meeting coming up tomorrow evening at Summerville City Hall.  Regular council meetings are held on the second Monday of each month and are open to the public.

On the agenda for tomorrow evening’s meeting, council members will hear about a study, recommended by consulting engineers Carter & Sloope, to obtain EPD permitting and provide direction to alleviate flooding in downtown Summerville and elsewhere inside the Summerville City Limits.

The issue has been at the top of the agenda for City Councilman Joe Money who has spearheaded meetings with regional and state officials to try to find a solution to the flooding problem.  Earlier this year, downtown Summerville was flooded and the flooding affected businesses and residences in the Commerce Street – Menlo Highway junction area.  Last month, Councilman Money said that Georgia Department of Transportation surveyors were checking out the city layout, dimensions and drainage escape routes to remove water from our low lying areas downtown, side streets and other areas along Hwy 27.

Tomorrow evening’s meeting will get underway at 5 PM.
