CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story indicated that Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey was running without opposition.  This was incorrect. Local businessman Jamie Godwin is running against Harvey in the upcoming election.

Early voting for the upcoming November 2nd municipal elections begins today.

Voters in Lyerly, Menlo, Trion and Summerville will have candidates to choose from in city council races.  Trion voters will be electing a new mayor, as incumbent Mayor Larry Stansell chose not to run for re-election.  Menlo voters will also be voting in a contested mayoral race.  Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey is facing off against Jamie Godwin and Lyerly Mayor Jim Ferguson are running without opposition.

There are a total of 4,242 voters in the four municipalities in Chattooga County that could potentially cast ballots.  Historically, municipal elections have a much smaller turnout than other elections.
