Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry talked with WZQZ News about the plans for a new county website.  The old website has not been updated in several years.  Technology has advanced since the website first went online, and Commissioner Elsberry is hoping to make the new website more user friendly.

The cost of the new website was initially quoted at $19,000, but the commissioner says he was able to get that price reduced to $15,000.

Elsberry said, “It includes security, security upgrades, 24/7 technical support and will have a dedicated person assigned to our account. Every two years we can do a complete remodel of the page if we like. Full back ups will be performed daily along with regularly scheduled upgrades and enhancements.  The website will also feature fully redundant network with advanced security coverage.”

The commissioner said that the website will also feature options that will enhance accessibility for the public.  One of the possibilities for the new website would be for county water district customers to pay their water bills online.  Elsberry said, “That is one of the items we are looking to set up.”

The commissioner also plans a place on the new site where county residents can report road issues.
