Trion Fire Chief Justin Lowe recently completed Chief Fire Officer training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPST) in Forsyth, Georgia.

The training included familiarization with GPSTC, Georgia Fire Academy, responsibilities of the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office. There were also discussions of agencies and resources at both the State and Federal level that may impact the operation of the fire department were also included.

Chief Lowe also received training on how the Chief Fire Officers function within the framework of marketing the organization, organizational planning, and formulating budget requirements.  There was also training on ethics and professional development during the four-day course.

On the final day of training, areas addressed were ISO Rating Schedule, Risk Management and Liability for the Chief Officer.
