A few decades ago, Cher sang, “If I Could Turn Back Time”.  We can’t turn it back to 1989, when that song was released, but we will be turning our clocks back one hour this weekend.

The old adage “Spring Forward” and “Fall Back” is how we remember the time change every year, and we do it now on the first weekend in November.  Time will officially change at 2 AM on Sunday morning, November 7th.

Some people have asked about the measure that was passed by the Georgia General Assembly last year concerning time change.  The Georgia Senate voted on its final day of this year’s legislative session to put the state on daylight saving time permanently.

But under federal law, the change can take place only if Congress makes daylight time permanent nationwide; so while the measure passed by the politicians in Atlanta may have expressed the desire of many, we have to wait on the politicians in Washington D.C. to make it official.

So whether we like it or not – time will change this Sunday morning; but at least we get an extra hour of sleep.
