Chattooga County Property taxes are due in a little over two weeks – on December 1, 2021.  Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton is encouraging local residents to get their property taxes paid to avoid penalties and interest.

Earlier this month, Tax Commissioner Hampton told WZQZ news that the county was behind on tax collections compared to previous years.   The tax due-date is on a Wednesday this year and if you want to avoid long lines, you may want to get those property taxes paid early.

There are several ways you can pay.  You can go online to www.chattoogatax.com and pay your bill online with a credit or debit card.  Remember, there is a processing fee charged for paying with a credit card.  When you log on to pay your taxes online, you will need to search for your property tax bill(s) and then click to pay.  When you do, it will calculate the credit card processing fee in with your tax payment.

You can also pay your property taxes by using the convenient drop box located at the Tax Commissioner’s Office in the Chattooga County Courthouse Annex.  The drop box is located on the side of the building behind the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

You can also pay your taxes in person.  The Chattooga County Tax Commissioner’s Office is open Monday – Friday.
