Summerville Police were forced to put down a deer that struck a vehicle this week.

The accident happened on Highway 100 near Summerville Middle School.  According to a report released by the police department, on Wednesday morning of this week, a deer ran into the roadway on Highway 100 and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.  The accident caused minor damage to the vehicle, but both the driver and the passenger were unharmed.

Police say that the deer ran into a nearby field and had to be put down due to its injuries.
