A popular Alabama band tribute group called “Boys in the Band” took to the stage recently at the DeSoto Theater in Fort Payne in a concert to raise money for mental health awareness.  To the band’s surprise, a couple of famous guests showed up to make the concert even more special.

The Boys in the Band – Alabama Tribute had scheduled the show but tragically lost one of their own members just a few weeks before the show.  Marcus Mullins played the fiddle and lead guitar for the tribute group.  The band decided to go ahead with the planned fundraiser and concert that was presented by Builders Supply in Fort Payne.

On Saturday night before a packed house, the band was surprised when Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry came on stage to perform some of their top hits with the band.

The event raised over $30,000 for the The Sam Foundation to advocate for suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Randy Owen thanked the crowd for attending and reminded everyone of the “very important cause” they were there to support.
