A traffic stop last week ended in the arrest of a LaFayette man who is now facing drug charges.

Last Wednesday, a deputy was on patrol on Highway 27 in the Trion area when he observed a vehicle driving over the posted speed limit.  When the car was pulled over, the deputy detected the smell of marijuana inside the vehicle.  The driver, identified as David Bowman of LaFayette, had a warrant out in Adairsville.

The deputy asked Bowman to step outside the vehicle and noticed a pipe in Bowman’s pocket.  Bowman said it was a marijuana pipe.  Officers then searched the vehicle and found a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue.

Bowman was charged with speeding, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects and tag light requirements and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
