At Monday’s Chattooga County Board of Education meeting, School Supt. Jared Hosmer told those in attendance that the arrest of a Lyerly second-grade teacher on child sex charges were not related to any previous complaints.

The short meeting only lasted around eight minutes, but Hosmer did say that forty-four-year-old Jeremy Bowman’s arrest was not connected to an investigation into other allegations against Bowman.  According to Hosmer, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office had looked into those allegations.

Bowman tendered his resignation to the Chattooga County Board of Education on Sunday.  The board voted to accept his resignation at the meeting held on Monday afternoon.
