A group of businesses just outside the town limits of Trion will have to wait to see if the Trion Council will approved a request to be annexed.

Earlier this year, several businesses approached real estate agent Steve Baker with Prime Realty about representing their interests and approaching the Trion council about the request.  The businesses, which include a medical supply company, an office building, a car wash and a gym, want to be able to access city services – especially the city’s sewer system.

The Summerville News reported last week that outgoing Trion Mayor Larry Stansell says that biggest hurdle for annexation is that the city’s lift station needs upgrades before the city would be able to make sewer service available to the businesses.

The Trion Town Council voted at their December meeting to put off the question of annexation until January.
